Proatta butteli is a polygynous species that forms small colonies. The queens look like mini Atta. Highly polygynous, they can practice intranidal reproduction.

Maintenance information:

Humidity: 70-90%

Temperature: 24-28°C (ideal at 26°C)

Diapause: No, a temperature drop to around 20° during the winter period is sufficient.

Formicariums: small formicarium (they need a lot of humidity and preferably substrate), bamboo tube

Food: insects and sweet liquids
